Independence Day

The US doesn’t have as many vacation days as Germany has. However, one of their special days is Independence Day on July, 4th. Traditionally, Americans celebrate this day with their families having picnic/BBQ and watching the fireworks. One of the most popular places to watch the fireworks is at the National Mall in Washington DC (also see the my posting about the monuments at the mall). Because the weather wasn’t very good and to avoid crowded places resulting in a traffic chaos we didn’t go there. Fireworks started at 9.15 pm. We went up on the roof of our condo where you have a pretty good view on the mall. It was also fun to watch fireworks on TV. Very cheesy! Patriotic music combined with pictures of the happenings in DC and NY. Don’t be disturbed by the picture. It looks more like the air raid on Bagdad than Independence Day fireworks. Didn’t buy a new camera yet. Sorry about that.
